The Great Pause

Nicola Elliott, Founder of NEOM:
“As a woman in wellbeing, I know the things that work for MY wellbeing. Lord knows, I have spent years building my wellbeing toolkit - the tips, the products, the dos and the don’ts. Yet, I'll let you in on a secret (if it isn’t already obvious), I don’t have it all figured out! Who does, right?
As I look back at the sheer amount of ‘stuff’ I was packing into my life pre March, I think ‘didn’t you remember the crazy hours you worked before NEOM causing you to be anxious, frazzled, tired and wired?’ But the truth is, I didn’t.
Don’t get me wrong, I love being busy and feeling a sense of happy pace in my life. But if there’s one thing the past six months has taught me it’s that being there for my kids at 5pm, and slowing a little to keep my anxiety in check, IS where it’s at.
And it seems you’re all nodding along in agreement too. We’re all now crystal clear on the stuff we’re taking into the ‘new NEW normal’ - and, crucially, the stuff we’re not. It’s finding joy in the small things. Some call it the ‘great pause’. The moment in time when we stopped, took a breath and rebooted, with a true understanding of how much the little moments mean for better wellbeing and mental health. And if there’s one thing we believe more than anything at NEOM it's that everyone should have the opportunity to nurture their wellbeing every day. That's why I am so proud to announce our partnership with the Mental Health Foundation.
The Mental Health Foundation’s vision is for a world with good mental health for all. They work to prevent mental health problems - supporting communities, families and individuals to live mentally healthier lives, with a particular focus on those at greatest risk.
Over 2020/2021 this partnership will see NEOM raise money to specifically support the Mental Health Foundation Peer Education Project and reach 5,000 children in the UK, helping to equip them to understand, protect and sustain their mental health.
We'll be providing more support to you guys, so we can all help our mental wellbeing over the coming months, in what may well be times of change - as the roller coaster of life continues.
We have already raised £3,500 from our virtual wellbeing festivals. Head here to see how we're raising funds, and how you can get involved.
It’s been so lovely to hear from you lately, and I would love to hear your thoughts on ‘the great pause’. Do get in touch @nicolaelliottmoss @neomorganics
