Posted by Nicola Elliott, Jun 07, 2021

This week we're asking Founder of Honestly Healthy and Fridge Fill, Natasha Corrett, what small natural swaps you can make to improve your wellbeing. Best-Selling Author, and Mum to baby Rudy, Natasha Corrett, talks easy natural swaps to help your wellbeing, whose celebrity fans include Victoria Beckham, Fearne Cotton and Millie Mackintosh.
January is almost over, how’s it been for you?
Honestly now I have a baby, each month is the same for me! Life goes on no matter what month it is although it does make me want to get some sun on my extremely translucent body. My philosophy, throughout the year, is ‘A little bit of something is better than nothing’. I’ve never been one to get sucked into the ‘New Year, New You’ mindset. You are YOU all year round. The good and the bad. Life is about feeling good and if having a lie in makes you feel good then do it. If going for a run or meditating feels good, do that. If you don’t know what makes you feel your absolute best then try something new. Commit to feeling great. That commitment is like a marriage – there will be times you want to leave and there will be times you want to try something else but stick with it as the more you do it the more it will become YOU.
If you don’t eat healthily, try adding three plant-based healthy meals to your diet each week. If you don’t exercise, try adding three forms of movement into your life each week. If you can’t sleep or unwind, try meditating for 10 minutes a day. If you struggle to find time for yourself, put a ‘me time meeting’ in your diary once a week. Moderation is everything.
Remember little and often, rather than full guns blazing. Fit the goals into your life don’t fit your life around those goals.
Do you, like us, follow the 80/20 rule?
It’s much more a 70/30 rule for me. SO much more flexible as I’m breastfeeding so I eat a lot more and worry much less. I highly recommend this mind set.
What are your five natural daily swaps?
My swaps are simple, small and easy to achieve. I don’t think I could do anything that took extra time because being a full-time mum and working when I have spare time is SO hard.
1. Promising to take the dog for a walk EVERY day. It’s so easy for the day to run away with you when you have a new baby.
2. Swap toast in the morning for a natural, green smoothie. I normally just grab something when Rudy, my baby is playing and need more greens.
3. Exercise while Rudy has his morning nap at least three times a week instead of sleeping.
4. Meditate for 10 minutes when I put Rudy to bed in the evenings rather than watching TV.
5. Swap scrolling through Instagram for unwinding for sleep by reading a book.
Are you determined to prioritise your wellbeing this year?
I ALWAYS prioritise my wellbeing. Our health is the only thing we have. Feeling well gives us the opportunities to do what we want to do.
What do the ingredients in NEOM do to help you feel better?
NEOM’s Scent to Sleep 3-wick candle is so wonderful when it burns, I find it so relaxing. They use 100% natural fragrances, which means I can use them during our night time routine with Rudy. I light one during bath time so the essential oils drift around the home - we associate the scent now with winding down and getting ready for bed time each day. Using NEOM in our routine definitely helps to instil calm in our home each evening.
